He took over the reins from Prof. Ananias Tomboulides to whom everybody at ERCOFTAC would like to thank for his excellent tenure.

Prof. D. von Terzi: "As newly elected chairman of ERCOFTAC, I want to use this opportunity to thank you for being part of this research community on flow, turbulence and combustion, and for your efforts, support and good will. I will not succeed in my role as chairman without you!

As a community, we can be proud of what has been achieved with ERCOFTAC. Over the last decades, a recognized brand has been established, well-known for successful research collaborations in our field within academia and with industry. Recent examples are the EU project HiFi-TURB, where not only its members but also ERCOFTAC as an organization are partners, as well as the continuous success of its flagship conference series ETMM, with ETMM13 coming up in 2020. Many more examples can be found as well on the ERCOFTAC website.

For 2020, I hope to meet some of you in person at our Spring Festival in Cambridge on April 16th and 17th, at ETMM13, or at our Autumn Festival with da Vinci competition in Rome on October 8th and 9th. Feed-back from and discussions with you there, or at any other occasion, will be important to me to keep on improving ERCOFTAC’s support to its community. I’m looking forward to working with and for you!"
