"While 20 years ago the accuracy of dispersed multiphase flows was mainly governed by the limited computational capacity,
nowadays the physical modeling poses the largest challenge" – Olivier Simonin, Lecturer
The course run in Rome was a huge success. 5 lecturers and 30 participants attended the Sapienza University di Roma to learn, discuss and share their knowledge in the subject.
This is what participants told us after the course:
Dylan Letessier: I attended the "CFD for Dispersed Multi-Phase Flows 2021" course in Rome. It was really enriching allowing me to get a more global vision on how to treat flows in a simulation. Moreover, we had a lot of discussions and the setting was perfect."
Margherita Dotti: “An useful and enjoyable CFD course – from both an academic and a personal point of view. The professors presented, in an enthusiastic way, theory and relevant applications for numerical simulations in multi-phase flows. I also had the chance to meet other young European researchers, specialized in my same field,
with whom I had meaningful and scientifically relevant conversations."
Nils Barfknecht:"The course gave me the unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into the modelling of dispersed multi-phase flow. I can now judge much better which modelling approach I have to use to solve my research problems. The extensive discussions about my research with lecturers and my fellow participants were a highlight for me. This course is highly recommended for everyone new in the field of dispersed multi-phase flow."
ERCOFTAC would like to thank Prof. Dr Martin Sommerfeld and colleagues for a successful edition of this year’s course.
